Life is filled with moments that leave us questioning, Why? Pain, loss, and heartache can feel overwhelming, especially when we believe in an all-knowing, all-powerful God. It’s natural to wonder: If God is so powerful, why does He allow suffering? Does He see my tears? Does He care about my pain?
The answer is both comforting and profound: yes, God sees, God cares, and God has a plan—even for our pain.
God’s Perspective vs. Our Perspective
One of the most challenging aspects of faith is accepting that God’s ways are not our ways. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
We see life in fragments, like pieces of a puzzle scattered on a table. God, however, sees the completed masterpiece. While we may not understand the purpose of our pain in the moment, God is orchestrating every detail to bring about His perfect plan.
God Sees Every Tear
In moments of heartache, it’s easy to feel abandoned. Yet, the Bible reassures us that God is intimately aware of our suffering. Psalm 56:8 says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book.”
Your tears are not wasted. Every cry, every heartbreak, every sleepless night matters to God. He doesn’t dismiss your pain; He treasures your honesty and meets you in your brokenness.
Why Does God Allow Pain?
It’s a question as old as time: Why does a loving God allow suffering? While we may not have all the answers, the Bible provides several insights:
To Draw Us Closer to HimIn our weakest moments, we often turn to God more earnestly. Pain has a way of softening our hearts and opening us to His presence. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
To Strengthen Our FaithChallenges can refine our faith, much like fire refines gold. James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
To Shape Us for His PurposeGod often uses our pain to prepare us for greater things. Romans 8:28 promises, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even the most painful experiences can lead to growth, purpose, and transformation.
To Show His GlorySometimes, God allows suffering so His power and glory can be revealed. In John 9:3, when asked why a man was born blind, Jesus replied, “This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
God’s Plan for Redemption
The greatest evidence of God’s plan for pain is found in the cross. Jesus, the Son of God, endured unimaginable suffering to bring redemption to the world. What seemed like a tragic end—His death—was actually the beginning of eternal life for all who believe.
If God can turn the ultimate act of suffering into the greatest story of hope, He can redeem your pain too.
Hope in the Midst of Pain
Trusting God in the midst of pain doesn’t mean you won’t feel the weight of your struggles. It means believing that He is with you, working for your good, even when you can’t see it.
Your Pain Has a Purpose
It’s not easy to trust God when life feels overwhelming but remember this: He has a plan for every tear you cry. Your pain, as difficult as it is, can be the foundation for something beautiful.
God doesn’t waste suffering. He uses it to shape you, draw you closer to Him, and accomplish His purposes. So, when you’re in the middle of the storm, hold onto this truth: God is with you, and He will see you through.
Key Verse: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
Trust in the God who sees, who knows, and who redeems.
Your story isn’t over—He’s just getting started. Stay encouraged.
